| GLOSSARY Antibodies
are large protein molecules used by the immune system to identify
and neutralize bacteria and viruses, called antigens. Antibodies
attach to an antigen and weaken it so that other immune system
cells can destroy it more easily. Measuring antibodies in the
blood can detect a bacteria or virus and assess the strength
of the immune system. |
