| GLOSSARY Antioxidants
are substances, including certain
vitamins, which protect cells from so-called "oxidative
stress". Normal cell functions produce free radicals, reactive
substances that can cause damage to the cell over time. Antioxidants
help prevent this damage, but their role in warding off diseases
like cancer and heart disease hasn't been proven. |
