GLOSSARY

Framingham score is a measure of a person's risk of developing heart disease over the next ten years. Risk factors like age, cholesterol levels, smoking and family history of heart disease are used in the calculation. The name comes from a very important long-term study that was conducted in a suburb of Boston called Framingham, Massachussetts.
