| GLOSSARY Lymph
nodes are clusters of cells
scattered throughout the body, mainly in the head and neck,
under the armpits, the abdomen and the wall of the bowel. They
house the front-line immune cells, which seek out and destroy
foreign invaders like viruses and bacteria. Swollen lymph nodes
are usually a sign that the body is fighting off an infection.
